FAQs

What is mastering?
Mastering is the process of taking your final audio mixes and fine tuning them by making adjustments to EQ, volume, deEssing, limiting/compression, and anything else needed to make your audio sound great.
Depending on the project and the overall outcome you are looking for, mastering can be subtle or dramatic.  The greatest benefit is that it can help a group of songs that sound different from each other sound like they belong on the same record!  This can be the difference between sounding like a group of demos or sounding like a real album.

What do I send?
Your files! We accept files in any standard stereo format (.wav, .aif, .aiff, .mp3, etc.) at most any resolution.
Uploading / downloading makes everything easy.

What do I get?
You will receive your individually mastered files.  Most people choose the individual file method so they can have control of the final sequencing on the finished product.  These files can be uploaded directly to the distribution service(s) of your choice.

How long does it take?
We usually have your master finished within three business days of receiving your files.

What gear or software do you use?
Alien Beans has a huge arsenal of high-end VST professional audio plugins.  We are constantly updating software!  Whether you need compression, EQ, limiting, noise reduction, gain, editing, or any number of other tweaks, we are sure to have something perfect for your project.  Your recording determines what software plugins we will use.
